ERMA – Lower Township police, along with fire units from Erma, Town Bank, Villas and Rio Grande, responded to a structure fire in the 800 block of Kathryn Boulevard, Sept. 11 abut 4:30 p.m.
According to police, the resident reported that the fire started accidentally in the detached garage and spread to the main house.
That resident was able to escape uninjured.
Cause of the blaze is being investigated by the Cape May County Fire Marshal’s Office and Patrolman Edwards of the Lower Township Police Department.

American Red Cross Southern Shore Chapter also responded to the fire, according to a release. A family of three; two adult women and a female teen were displaced from their home. Emergency assistance was provided for food, clothing, transportation and linens. The family is now staying with friends.
No word yet on what started the fire.
