UPDATE: County Fire Marshal Investigates at Four Seasons Diner

By Herald Staff

RIO GRANDE – A fire destroyed the Four Seasons Diner in Rio Grande Nov. 24.
Fire officials say the call came in shortly after 11 p.m. Rio Grande, Green Creek, Erma and Villas Fire Departments responded to the call.
Cape May County Fire Marshal Conrad Johnson was at the scene Nov. 25. “We’ve been in there, but there’s still a long way to go,” Johnson said. “It’s just a matter of digging through the rubble and seeing if we can find an actual source (of the fire).”
Angela Christakos, a diner employee heard about the fire early in the morning. “I got the call at 6 a.m.,” Christakos said. “I rushed in and saw this disaster.”
Linda Chambers, an employee who has worked at the Four Seasons Diner for nine years, lives a block away. “I heard the sirens going off last night and I came running,” Chambers said. “There were about 20 trucks here… Thank God George wasn’t here when it happened.”
George Fotakis is the owner of the Four Seasons Diner. According to Chambers, Fotakis has a permanent residence in Deptford but sometimes spends the night in the office above the diner.
When Fotakis arrived, visually upset, he walked the perimeter of the ruined diner, shaking his head.
