By Herald Staff

WOODBINE — Smoke reported in Apartment C-8 at Woodbine Manor Apartments, 201 Webster St. on Oct. 27 at about 10:10 p.m. brought quick response from three fire companies.
When Fire Chief Clarence Ryan arrived, he declared it a “working structure fire” and requested mutual aid from Belleplain and Dennis fire companies.
Firefighters worked quickly and extinguished the fire which they contained to one room.
“We contained the fire to one room, we had it under control in under 15 minutes,” said Ryan.
There was heavy smoke damage throughout the apartment and in the hallway of the building which houses 12 two-bedroom apartments.
Belleplain Emergency Corps also responded to the scene to provide rehab and first aid.
Cape May County Fire Police responded to assist with traffic control.
The blaze is under investigation by the Cape May County Fire Marshal and New Jersey State Police Woodbine Station.
