Surf Shop Blaze Quickly Doused

WILDWOOD – Wildwood City Fire Department Quint Company 3 responded to 5011 Ocean Avenue, The Wild Ocean Surf Shop, for a reported electrical fire at 9:28 a.m. March 14. The fire was reported by Capt. Joe Murphy of the Wildwood Police Department. 
On arrival, Quint Company 3, under the command of Capt. James Grauel, reported fire showing on the south side of the building. Grauel requested dispatch to upgrade the alarm due to fire showing of an occupied building.
Murphy stated he alerted the resident of the second floor of the fire and evacuated her prior to the fire department’s arrival.
A search of the building for occupants was completed quickly as the fire was quickly knocked down on the exterior of the structure.
Atlantic City Electric arrived on location and secured the electric to the building allowing fire crews to completely extinguish the fire.
There were no reported injuries. Damage to the building was estimated at $5,000. The cause of the fire is accidental (electrical).
