COURT HOUSE – Due to the efforts of the Five Mile Beach Volunteer Firemans Convention Committee we have receieved a valuable training prop for use by all of our County’s Firefighters.
It was due to the cooperative and forward thinking efforts of the convention committee exhibitors section that a “Forcible Entry Training Door” prop was donated by having two of the convention vendors work togethor to donate the equipment after it was used for demonstration at the annual NJ State Firefighters convention held in Wildwood in September of 2013.
The vendors that worked togethor on this donation along with the convention committee exhibitors section were, E Force Doors – Exact Fire (www.exactcorp.com), Xtreme valor (www. xtremevalor.com) and AllHands Working Chartity (www.allhandsworking.org).
The door mock up is manufactured by exact Force and is used by Firefighters to actually force their way into a structure. It can be used over and over again allowing many Firefighters to perfrom the actual work of breaking into a locked door and can be used to simulate either inward opening or outward opening doors.
The mock up is a full size door made of steel and mounted on a solid steel frame making it very heavy and very durable. It uses blocks of wood that are pre-cut and placed into steel channels that make the firefighters work very hard using comon Firefighting tools and techniques to force their way throuigh the door.
Numerous Fire Departments from around Cape May County have taken advantage of this simulator as a stand alone drill night. In addition we have heavily incorporated it into our Firefighter I and II programs as part of the Forcible entry class and many of the live burn and search and rescue classes. By placing the door directly in front of the normal entry door into our burn building we can make the students first force their way into the building.
On behalf of the Fire Academy and Fire Service in Cape May County I would like to take this oportunity to thank the Five Mile Beach Convention committee and vendors for making this donation.
Wildwood Crest – I’ve heard that the mayor of wildwood crest wants the fire dept to acquire a liquor license in order to sell alcohol at events. Is this true? The crest is a dry town and that’s the reason we don’t…
