Firefighters Respond to Fire at Historic Church in Dennisville

DENNISVILLE – The Dennis Volunteer Fire Company was dispatched to the Dennisville United Methodist Church for a reported structure fire on July 5th, 2010 at about 12:10 p.m.
Engine 1838 responded to the scene and reported smoke showing from the top of the church area. Crews immediately began attack of the fire, utilizing a construction lift to gain access to the roof area.
Station 18 requested a mutual aid response from Station 16 (Woodbine) and Station 17 (Ocean View).Station 20 (Tuckahoe) was also requested for their aerial ladder truck.
The incident was declared under control a short time after crews began extinguishment.
Squad 22 responded to the scene with several ambulances and the corporation’s firefighter rehabilitation bus.
In addition to Engine 1838, Command 1812, Engine 1835, Tanker 1843, and Rescue 1872 also responded to the scene.
In addition to Stations 16, 17, 20, and Squad 22, Squad 21 (Upper Township Rescue), as well as the New Jersey State Police, also responded.
