Firefighters Extinguish Wildwood Boat Fire

WILDWOOD – Wildwood City Firefighters responded to a boat fire located at 504 West Rio Grande Avenue Feb. 20 at 3:01 a.m.
On arrival, firefighters found smoke coming from a 35’ Ocean Yacht docked next to the Boat House restaurant.
Firefighters began extinguishing the fire and also searched the living areas for occupants. The vessel was unoccupied at the time of the incident. Firefighters operated on scene for two hours, extinguishing the fire which traveled in the haul of walls of the vessel.
Units operating on scene were Engine 38-C Platoon and NWFD Engine 2.
Fire appears to be accidental, but remains under investigation by the Cape May County Fire Marshal’s Office and the Fire Department.
