OCEAN CITY – The Ocean City Fire Department responded to a report of a structure fire April 11 at 1:37 a.m.
The fire was reported in the area of 22nd Street and Central Avenue. Upon arrival, Engine 2 located the fire at 2222 Central Avenue, Unit 12. The fire was consuming the exterior of the property. A timely, effective and aggressive fire attack contained the fire, eliminating it from spreading to the connected units. Interior walls were opened to check for fire extension. Fire was found impinging on the interior of the second and third floors. The quick response by the OCFD saved this structure and left the owner with less severe repairs.
No persons were displaced as this unit was a second home and there were no injuries to firefighters. The fire is under investigation by the OCFD.
