OCEAN CITY – Engines One, Two, Three and Truck One were dispatched for a reported structure fire at 321 Surf Rd. June 1, around 5:10 p.m.
According to a release, deputy 2A arrived on scene to find a large volume of fire coming from the rear second floor of the residence, as well as the attic area. Engine One arrived on location and stretched handlines and extinguished the bulk of the fire from the exterior of the residence.
Remaining crews from Truck One and Engines two and three assisted in checking for extension and extinguishing the remainder of the fire. Mutual aid assistance was received from the Margate City Fire Department, acting as a RIT, as well as companies from Marmora Fire, Strathmere Fire, Upper Emergency Medical Services (EMS) and representatives from the gas, water and electric companies.
The fire was reported under control a 5:49 p.m. One firefighter and one civilian were transported to Shore Medical Center for evaluation.
Unites stayed on location for overhaul and cleared the scene at 7:39 p.m.
As of June 4, the fire remained under investigation by Ocean City’s police and fire departments.
