Fire District Elections Results: Goshen OKs New Firehouse

COURT HOUSE – Voters in Dennis, Lower, Middle and Upper townships went to the polls or mailed in ballots for Feb 15 fire district elections. All budgets were passed. 

 

Goshen voters, 66-51, approved the construction of a firehouse not to exceed $2.4 million.

 

Numbers are total votes.

 

Dennis Township

 

Fire District No. 1, Ocean View

Board of Fire Commissioners, three-year term, vote for one

Robert Clayton Jr., 77.

Budget to be raised by taxation: $390,300, Yes, 69, No, 9.

Question: Shall the Commissioners have approval to issue a purchase order, in 2020, to Pierce Manufacturing for a new rescue pumper and take delivery in 2021, the cost shall not exceed $825,000? Yes, 70, No. 8.

 

Fire District No. 2, Dennisville

Board of Fire Commissioners, full, three-year term, vote for two

Cliff Lockwood, 36, Bruce Knoll Jr., 38, Bryan Adams, 1.

Budget to be raised by taxation: $331,574 Yes, 34, No, 6.

 

Fire District No. 3, Belleplain

Board of Fire Commissioners, full term, vote for two

Francis Smyth Jr., 34, Oliver Twist III, 32.

Budget to be raised by taxation: $180,740, Yes, 28, No, 9.

 

Lower Township

 

Fire District No. 1, Villas

Board of Fire Commissioners, three-year term, vote for two

Joseph Wareham, 110, William Howard, 105, Mr. Two Face, 1, Blank, 3.

Budget: $562,700 with $562,700 to be raised by taxation, Yes, 91, No. 37.

 

Fire District No. 2, Town Bank

Board of Fire Commissioners, three-year term, vote for two

Raymond Scott Brown, 201, Charles Prendergast, 197, Walt Snyder III, 1, Richard Rader, 1, Daniel Anderson, 1, Robert Quinn, 1, Blank, 2.

Budget: $2,528,600 million with $1,011,600 to be raised by taxation, Yes, 121, No. 109. 

 

Fire District No. 3, Erma

Board of Fire Commissioners, three-year term, vote for two

Steven Douglass, 97, Robert Sweeten, 96, Lloyd Daignault, 1.

Unexpired two-year term, vote for one

Allyn Devlin, 88. 

Budget: $1,018,572 with $822,466 to be raised by taxation, Yes, 67, No. 31.

 

Middle Township 

 

Fire District No. 1, Court House

Board of Fire Commissioners, three-year term, vote for one

Michael McNulty Sr., 328, Michael Clark, 1, Mark Garvey, 1, Violet Rixey, 2, Michael Butterfield, 1, Jeff Conlin, 1, Blank, 1. 

Budget to be raised by taxation: $1,470,838, Yes, 248, No, 130.

 

Fire District No. 2, Rio Grande

Board of Fire Commissioners, full, three-year term, vote for two

Robert Zimmerman, 85, Conrad Johnson Jr., 90.

Budget to be raised by taxation: $714,600, Yes, 78, No, 21.

Question: Resolved that a sum not to exceed $50,000 pf the reserve be authorized for command vehicle, Yes, 75, No, 20.

 

Fire District No. 3, Green Creek

Board of Fire Commissioners, three-year term, vote for one

David Zeiss, 40, Edward Lord, 1.

Budget: $519,321 with $519,321 to be raised by taxation, Yes, 32, No, 12.

 

Fire District No. 4, Goshen

Board of Fire Commissioners, full, three-year term, vote for one

Cynthia Gorman, 106, Abstain, 1, Illegible, 1.

Budget to be raised by taxation: $225,321, Yes, 93, No, 24. 

Question: Permission to construct a new firehouse for an amount not to exceed $2.4 million? Yes, 66, No, 51.

 

Upper Township

 

Fire District No. 1, Strathmere

Board of Fire Commissioners, three-year term, vote for one

Randall Roash, 18.

Budget to be raised by taxation: $94,602, Yes, 17, No, 1.

 

Fire District No. 2, Tuckahoe

Board of Fire Commissioners, three-year term, vote for one

James Tarby, 51.

Budget to be raised by taxation: $528,300, Yes, 45, No, 9.

Question: A capital appropriation for capital expenditures over the next five budget years, the amount to be raised is $25,000 per year, totaling $125,000 for five years for use by the fire company. Yes, 47, No, 8.

 

Fire District No. 3, Marmora

Board of Fire Commissioners, three-year term, vote for two

Paul Hoster, 120, Scott Snyder Sr., 114.

Budget to be raised by taxation: $647,047, Yes, 101, No, 18.

Question: Shall the Commissioners of Upper Township Fire District No. 3 be authorized to purchase miscellaneous firefighting equipment such as firefighting air pack units, in an amount not exceeding $55,000 per year and appropriate the amount of the purchase in the 2020 or 2021 capital budget? Yes, 114, No, 8.

 

Fire District No. 4, Seaville

Board of Fire Commissioners, full, three-year term, vote for one.

Don Fancher (three-year term), 70, Ron Collins, 1, Thomas T. Strunk, 1

Rich Stevens (one-year term), 71.
