Fire District Elections Are Feb. 15 in Townships

COURT HOUSE – Voters in fire districts throughout Lower, Middle, Dennis and Upper townships are preparing to cast ballots in their respective locales Feb. 15 from 2 to 9 p.m. Those who cast votes by mail have likely already received their ballot from the Cape May County Clerk’s Office.
Standing for election are commissioners for fire districts. Before the voters will be budgets to operate the fire districts for the year. Those in townships will see the amount of fire district tax on their property tax bills listed as a separate item.
Listed as district, polling location, ballot question(s:
Dennis Township
Fire District No. 1, Ocean View Vol. Fire Co., 2545 Route 9, Ocean View: Commissioner (vote for one) full, three-year term: Robert Grundlock, Tammy Tozer.
Unexpired term, one year remaining: Paul Sutton
Questions: Budget $365,000; Expenditure up to $500,000 for purchase of tanker/tender type fire truck and equipment from Reserve Funds.
Fire District No. 2, Dennis Vol. Fire Co., 721 Petersburg Road, Dennisville: Commissioners (vote for two) three-year term: Clifford Lockwood, Adam T. Dotts.
Question: Budget $250,946.
Fire District No. 3, Belleplain Vol. Fire Co., 106 Hands Mill Road, Belleplain: Commissioner (vote for two, two seats open): Oliver Twist III.
Questions: Budget $161,063; Purchase fire truck and incur debt for same, not to exceed $235,000.
Lower Township
Fire District No. 1, Villas Vol. Fire Co., 1619 Bayshore Road, Villas: Commissioners (vote for two) three-year term: Michael Brannon, Joseph Wareham.
Questions: Budget $604,138 with amount to be raised by taxation of $509,138; Spend, not to exceed $45,000, for necessary repairs and/or renovation to the firehouse engine bay floor.
Fire District No. 2, Town Bank Vol. Fire Co., 224 Townbank Road, North Cape May: Commissioners (vote for two) full, three-year term: Raymond S. Brown, Charles J. Prendergast.
Questions: Budget $1,080,690 and an amount to be raised by taxation of $908,690.
Fire District No. 3, Erma Vol. Fire Co., 415 Breakwater Road, Erma: Commissioners (vote for two) full, three-year term: Steven Douglass, David Lepor.
Question: Budget $862,250 with amount to be raised by taxation of $741,144.
Middle Township
Fire District No. 1, Cape May Court House Vol. Fire Co., 112-B Hand Ave., Court House: Commissioner: Full, three-year term: Michael R. McNulty.
Question: Budget: $1,216,039.49.
Fire District No. 2, Rio Grande Vol. Fire Co., 1120 Route 47 S., Rio Grande: Commissioners (vote for two) full, three-year term: Robert W. Zimmerman, Conrad Johnson Jr.
Questions: Budget $536,800. Sum not to exceed $800,000 of reserve authorized for fire apparatus.
Fire District No. 3, Green Creek Vol. Fire Co., 14 Bayshore Road, Green Creek: Commissioner:
Full, three-year term: David Zeiss.
Question: Budget, $449,326 to be raised by taxation.
Fire District No. 4, Goshen Vol. Fire Co., 331 Route 47 N., Goshen: Commissioners (vote for two) full, three-year term: Cynthia Gorman, Joseph Heitzman Sr.
Question: Budget $155,458.
Upper Township
Fire District No. 1, Strathmere Vol. Fire Co., 5 S. Commonwealth Ave., Strathmere: Commissioner: Full, three-year term: Randall Roash.
Question: Budget $77,495.
Fire District No. 2, Tuckahoe Vol. Fire Co., 2170 Route 50, Tuckahoe:
Commissioner: Full, three-year term: James Tarby.
Question: Budget $446,800.
Fire District No. 3, Marmora Vol. Fire Co., 40 Old Tuckahoe Road, Marmora: Commissioners (vote for two) full, three-year term: R.A. DiNicolantonio, Thomas Swenk.
Question: Budget $524,070.
Fire District No. 4, Seaville Vol. Fire Co., 36 Route 50, Seaville: Commissioners (vote for two) full, three-year term: David Mason Jr.
Question: Budget: $517,646 with $510,646 to be raised by taxation.
