By Herald Staff

NORTH WILDWOOD – A fire extensively damaged the third floor of an unoccupied house located at 319 E. 17th St. on Sat., Oct. 29.
According to North Wildwood Fire Chief Jeff Cole, Sr., firefighters responded to a call at 10:07 p.m. Upon arriving on scene the entire third floor of the two-and-a-half-story dwelling was engulfed.
The fire started on the third floor of the dwelling,
“There was an extensive amount of storage in the third floor,” Cole told the Herald. “Which hampered our efforts.”
The fire was under control by 11 p.m.
Fire companies from the City of Wildwood, West Wildwood, and a Rapid Intervention Team from Rio Grande also responded to the blaze. The Stone Harbor Volunteer Fire Department covered for the community, said Cole.
The fire was discovered by a patrolling North Wildwood police officer.
The cause of the fire remains undetermined.
