Faulty Heating System Likely Cause of Multi-Alarm Petersburg Fire

By Harry B. Scheeler Jr.

PETERSBURG — Firefighters were called to the scene of a multi-alarm structure fire in a two story duplex on Meadow Ridge Lane Tuesday night.
The occupants made it out safely but one of the residents was later transported to Shore Memorial Hospital in Somers Point by Upper Township Rescue Squad and AtlantiCare paramedics for a cardiac related emergency.
Tuckahoe firefighters arrived on scene at around 9 P.M., and reported fire was showing. Additional fire departments from Marmora, Seaville, and Dennis Township also responded to the blaze.
The Cape May chapter of the American Red Cross responded to the scene to assist the displaced residents.
State Police said the fire is not considered suspicious and a faulty heating system is the likely cause.
The Cape May County Fire Marshal and County Prosecutor’s office responded to the scene to investigate.
