Elderly Female Injured In Villas House Fire

VILLAS– Firefighters were called to a house fire here on the 200 block of Bentz Ave at 8:50 a.m., on Sunday, Jan 24.
According to Villas Fire Chief Rich Harron, Jr., when he arrived on scene the single story house was filled with smoke from a fire that started in the kitchen.
“Firefighters made an aggressive interior attack which knocked the fire down quickly. The fire was under control in less then 15 minutes,” Harron said.
The Erma Fire Department responded to the scene to assist with overhaul. Townbank Fire Department was on standby at Villas fire house.
A 73 year-old female was transported to Cape Regional Medical Center by Lower Township Rescue Squad for smoke inhalation and minor burns, Harron said.
The cause of the fire is unknown. The Cape May County Fire Marshal was called to the scene to investigate.
