By Herald Staff

GOSHEN – A house fire was extinguished July 31 in the 400 block of Goshen Swainton Road. A dog was inside the home when the fire started. When the firefighters arrived, they busted in the door and the dog ran out of the house to safety, uninjured.
Firefighters from Goshen Volunteer Fire Co., Court House Volunteer Fire Co. Stone Harbor Volunteer Fire Co. No. 1, Dennisville Volunteer Fire Dept., and Rio Grande Fire Co. responded to the call at approximately 6:30 p.m. According to a source, once the fire breached the attic, there was nothing firefighters could do to save it. The house was heavily damaged.
