Cape May County Fire Coordinator Dies After Responding to Fatal North Wildwood Fire

TOWN BANK – Long-time Town Bank firefighter and Fire Chief, and Cape May County Fire Coordinator Arthur “Art” Treon died Nov. 19 after leaving the scene of a fatal North Wildwood fire Nov. 18, according to a report on The Cape May Gazette.
Town Bank Fire Chief Lou McGonigal told The Cape May Gazette that Treon had gone to the North Wildwood fire Nov. 18 at 212 W. 17th Ave. McGonigal said Treon complained of chest pains and shortness of breath and was transported to the hospital, where he appeared to be doing better. Treon later died at the hospital.
Cape May County Office of Emergency Management Coordinator Martin Pagliughi told The Cape May Gazette Treon died in the line of duty after responding to the North Wildwood fire as county fire coordinator.
Treon is survived by his wife Dora and two sons. Funeral services have not yet been announced.
