Cannon Lodge Assists with Church’s Rebuilding

By Herald Staff

SOUTH SEAVILLE — It was a neighborly thing to do after a fire.
Members of Cannon Lodge No. 104 Free and Accepted Masons recently presented a $1,000 check to Rev. Thomas Perry of South Seaville United Methodist Church. The house of worship, adjacent to the lodge hall at 115 Corson Tavern Road, was destroyed by fire after being struck by lightning early in the morning of June 10.
Making the donation on behalf of the lodge was Cannon’s Worshipful Master Chick Mears. Joining at the donation was lodge Secretary Richard Affa.
A heap of charred rubble is all that remains of the church behind a chain-link fence.
The donation will be placed toward the rebuilding fund, Mears said.
