By Press Release

WILDWOOD – Wildwood firefighters were dispatched to the area of Tacony Road and Park Boulevard July 23 at 8:02 p.m. for the report of a house fire.
Squad Company 3, under the command of Capt. Matt Johnson, arrived on scene and reported fire showing from the second floor of a two-story dwelling, located in the 4500 block Park Blvd. Johnson requested that the “all hands” be struck as an aggressive interior attack was being made.
The fire was placed under control in under 20 minutes, with damage being to the fire building. Companies remained on scene for well over an hour, as extensive overhaul had to be done due to a large amount of storage in the residence.
The two occupants of the residence had evacuated prior to the fire department’s arrival without injury. The Red Cross assisted the displaced occupants.
The cause of the fire was unknown, and was being investigated by Cape May County Fire Marshal’s Office and Wildwood Fire Department.
Additional companies on scene were North Wildwood Fire Department, Wildwood Crest Fire Company, and Rio Grande Fire Company. Covering the island were Stone Harbor and West Wildwood fire departments.
