Basement Fire Damages Cape May City Home

CAPE MAY CITY– A fire that started here in the basement of 1031 New Jersey Avenue was quickly brought under control,
Deputy Fire Chief Richard Lundholm said.
Lundholm said when they arrived on scene, light smoke was showing from the exterior of the house. Firefighters gained entry to the home and a fire was located in the basement.
An aggressive attack was made bringing the fire under control in the less then fifteen minutes, Lundholm said.
Lundholm said the fire started in a appliance.
No injuries were reported.
Firefighters from the Cape May Coast Guard base and Townbank Fire Department also responded.
The fire is under investigation by the Cape May Fire Marshal’s office.
