CAPE MAY – Join Friends of Cape May National Wildlife Refuge March 22 (rain date March 29) from 11 a.m.- 2 p.m. for a Volunteer Beach, Garden and Roadside Cleanup at the Two Mile Beach Unit of the Refuge. Each year in late March we try to do our best to get the beach ready for our resident nesting and migrating birds, and our trails, garden and roadsides ready for our spring and summer visitors.
We will provide light refreshments as well as all necessary tools such as trash bags, gloves, safety equipment, etc. Meet at the Visitor Center at Two Mile Beach, located near the former Coast Guard Loran Station at 12001 Pacific Ave. (Ocean Dr.) in Wildwood Crest at 11 am. This is a perfect activity for families, 4H Clubs, school groups, scouts, or individuals looking to make a difference.
This event is co-sponsored by the Cape May County Adopt a Highway Program, Americorps, and Friends of Cape May NWR. Please let us know if you are planning on coming by emailing info@friendsofcapemayrefuge.org. We hope to see you there! We’re also pleased to announce that our Nature Store at Two Mile will be re-opening to the public April 4. Our spring hours will be Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m.
In case of rain, check out our Facebook page (Friends of Cape May NWR) for up to the minute announcements about this and all our programs and events.
