Vessel That Left Cape May Aug. 3 Finally Freed from Assateague

ASSATEAGUE — According to a Delmarvanow.com story, a 77-foot, 160-ton commercial fishing vessel, which left Cape May Aug. 3 bound for South Africa, was finally freed Thursday, Oct. 1 after it ran aground on the beaches of Assateague Island on the Delmarva penninsula.
The story stated that the crew of the Frieda Marie intentionally grounded the vessel after it began taking on water off the Assateague coast.
