Stone Harbor Bird Sanctuary to Open Trails May 21

STONE HARBOR – On May 21, 2011 the Borough of Stone Harbor will officially open the last of four trails that penetrate the interior of the Stone Harbor Bird Sanctuary. This trail snakes through maritime forest and opens out to a vista of egret habitat and ghostly figures of very old white cedar trees.The 1:00 PM opening and dedication of a footbridge spanning two dunes along the trail will honor George Walters, late husband of the Stone Harbor Mayor, Suzanne Walters. Atlantic City Electric, Mr. Walters employer, has made significant contributions in support of the Sanctuary. Invited Federal, State and County dignitaries will join Stone Harbor representatives in the ceremony. The public is invited to share the festivities, refreshments and to stroll the Egret Espy.
