COURT HOUSE – Atlantic Cape Community College officials are ready to “flip the switch” Oct. 10 at 2 p.m. on the local campus’ 2.2-megawatt solar photovoltaic project.
Work started on the project in June after the spring semester. As work progressed at the parking lot at 341 Court House-South Dennis Road, similar work was ongoing at the Mays Landing campus.
Marina Energy LLC, a subsidiary of South Jersey Industries, designed and constructed the project that is expected to generate as much as 48 percent of the college’s total annual electrical need.
The photovoltaic system is based on overhead carport-type units at both sites.
Officials of Atlantic Cape, Marina Energy and Palmieri Electrical are expected to join in the Oct. 10 event.
It is expected that the ceremony will take place near a monitor that displays the amount of solar energy generated by the system.
