SEA ISLE — Residents of this beachfront community better make sure they put their lids down after visiting the bathroom.
At the Oct. 11 City Council meeting, Business Administrator George Savastano announced the awarding of a contract to Video Pipe Service, Inc. of Newfield to inspect and repair some of the city’s pipes without the need for digging.
“There is a potential for sewage to back up,” said Savastano. “They advise residents to keep their toilet seats down.”
“How does a video camera cause a backup?” asked resident Lynn Shirk.
“It’s the pressure,” responded Savastano.
According to Savastano it’s a rare occurrence for a backup to take place, but the company will issue notices to affected properties as a precaution.
“We started on Monday (Oct. 10),” a representative of Video Pipe Service, Inc. told the Herald. “We’re only just inspecting now, but the repairs will be down the road.”
A notice to residents will be sent out before the work commences, said the company representative.
