‘Save Avalon’s Dunes’ Group Cleans Beaches

By Leslie Truluck

AVALON- Save Avalon’s Dunes, a local environmental group, collected several containers of trash March 17 from beaches and dunes between 43rd and 45th streets.
According to a release, construction debris, bottles, cans and items that blew into the high dunes from overturned trashcans were picked up.
Save Avalon’s Dunes (SAD) is an all-volunteer group that was formed to conserve and protect the borough’s unique high dunes from development.
“SAD is against all destruction of the dunes,” the release stated.
