SEA ISLE CITY – Think Pavers Hardscaping, of Swedesboro, is making improvements to Landis Avenue from 43rd to 39th streets. City Council awarded the $796,648 contract for streetscape improvements Sept. 8, 2015.
The project includes various aspects of beautification: new sidewalks, paver crosswalks, traffic striping, lighting, sod, stone mulching, tree plantings and tree grates, benches and bike racks.
The block from JFK Boulevard to 40th Street was previously completed as part of the JFK Gateway Project.
Hardscape and lighting improvements from 39th Street to 40th Street were completed, both east and west sides of Landis, as is the new crosswalk at 39th and Landis.
Street tree installation will take place in the next several weeks, according to the city website.
The contractor began work south of JFK Boulevard on the west side of Landis with concrete being completed.
The east side demolition has begun. Once both sides of Landis are completed to 43rd Street, crosswalks at 42nd and West Jersey Avenue will be constructed.
In order to complete the streetscape intersections, intermittent closing of the intersections along Landis Avenue from West Jersey to 43rd Street will be necessary until early May.
Notification and coordination with adjacent residents and businesses will take place in advance.
Accompanying photos of the 4100 block of Landis Avenue were taken on March 29.
