The Nature Conservancy will present on the “NJ Lands Blueprint Project,” a GIS-based planning tool for land use and preservation. The New Jersey Lands Blueprint Committee is a consortium of 21 conservation-focused groups, both governmental and non-profits.
The committee has three primary goals:

• Publicize the website, and provide targeted education and outreach to wide range of stakeholders.
Members of the New Jersey Department of Community Affairs Local Planning Services (LPS) will address the following:
LPS, an office within DCA, works with communities to achieve local land use and planning goals; LPS’s professional planning staff offers comprehensive planning services at no cost to local governments.
LPS has assisted with a variety of services, such as: Master Plans and Master Plan Elements; Redevelopment Plans; Land Use Planning; GIS Mapping and Analysis; Economic Development Plans; Special Municipal Projects.
LPS will present a few examples of completed projects. To be eligible for LPS assistance, a municipality must demonstrate they meet certain qualifying criteria.
“I want to thank Joseph “Jody” Alessandrine, Director of Land Protection for The Nature Conservancy, as well as Tom Stanuikynas of Local Planning Services, Department of Community Affairs, for making themselves available on such short notice to present this wealth of information to the Pinelands Municipal Council and to the public on how municipalities move forward in forming their Master Plans.
These presentations complement each other in setting forth goals and resources for our Pinelands communities.
