OCEAN CITY – The Ocean City Environmental Commission and Clean Communities Organization are hosting two events to celebrate Earth Day weekend, April 21 and 22. The first event is the 27th Annual Clean Ocean Action Spring Beach Sweep, which will take place on Sat., April 21 from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. All residents, students, organizations and families are encouraged to take part in the semiannual “counted cleanup” sweep along the beaches in Ocean City.
Clean Ocean Action uses data cards to record the litter collected and enters the information into a national database of marine debris. Volunteers should register at the Ocean City Music Pier, located at Moorlyn Terrace and the Boardwalk to receive their clean up supplies and sweep location.
On Sun., April 22, the Ocean City Environmental Commission and Clean Communities groups will hold a Dune Grass planting event from Noon to 3 p.m. at the 5th Street Beach. Volunteers will meet in the Civic Center parking lot at Noon where they will receive information regarding Ocean City’s dune systems, issued dune grass seedlings, and planting equipment. All Volunteers should wear appropriate clothing and footwear.
Both events are rain or shine. For more information or to register a group, please call 609-399-6111 ext 9285 or email adoptabeach@ocnj.us.
