AVALON — Avalon officials spent the last few hours of daylight on Oct. 30 doing as much remediation work as they could in Avalon before dark. Crews stayed throughout the night again for various recovery efforts in Avalon, reported Scott Wahl, borough public relations director.
“We can report a large amount of electric utility vehicles were seen arriving near shore points in South Jersey during the late afternoon hours on Wednesday. We will provide updates on electrical service, sewer service (which had been suspended by the Cape May County MUA), cleanup and recovery, the status of roads, and other conditions.
“Ocean Drive leading towards the Townsend Inlet Bridge will be closed for quite a while due to a road collapse. Winds have finally quieted along shore points including Avalon and tidal concerns are no longer an issue which will help accelerate the cleanup process.
“Thank you for your kind words and patience and we will have more information coming after this morning’s assessment. Continue to visit www.avalonemergency.org for essential information, along with our Facebook page.
