$40 Million Solar Farm Facility Proposed For Woodbine

By Press Release

WOODBINE– Mayor William Pikolycky is pleased to announce that at the October 7, 2010, Woodbine Borough Council meeting, Lincoln Renewal Energy gave a presentation on their proposed $40 million, 75-acre, 15-megawatt solar farm facility to be located in the Borough of Woodbine, at the corners of County Routes 557 and 610.
A low impact project, it would generate about $150,000 yearly in tax revenue while creating jobs for both construction and operation. Appropriately located with limited impact on property and no noticeable noise at the property lines, the project would require no additional septic or water systems, with very little impermeable surface, no glare/easy buffering, and no impact on ground water recharge, thus preserving the rural character of the area.
Lincoln Renewable Energy develops solar and wind power projects from Greenfield concept through commercial operation across the United States, combining best development sites and technologies to produce lowest cost renewable power where and when markets need it.
Their efforts have led to the construction of over 2,400 megawatts of renewable energy in North America and Europe over the past 10 years, including multiple projects in New Jersey and the Delmarva peninsula.
“Keeping in line with our green communities initiatives, this will reduce our carbon footprint emissions, thereby putting us in a strong position for our Eco-Business Park and our sustainability goals, making Woodbine a leader in alternative energy,” noted Mayor Pikolycky, Furthermore, this comes on the heels of our Woodbine Community School installing solar panels.”
