By Press Release

TRENTON – Sen. Jeff Van Drew (D-1st) will host Commissioner of Education Dr. Lamont Repollet at schools in Cape May and Cumberland counties when he visits Dec. 10.

According to a release, Van Drew and Repollet will meet with school administrators as well as local school board presidents and superintendents to discuss the new school funding formula.

“I want to thank Commissioner Repollet in advance for taking the time to participate in the roundtables in South Jersey to talk about the new school funding formula and to hear the concerns and questions local officials have about it,” stated Van Drew.  “I have been making this request that he come down to the 1st Legislative District for a few months now, so I am glad that he is willing to come have a conversation about the new formula with public school officials.”

Van Drew and Repollet will tour Wildwood High School and Haleyville-Mauricetown Elementary School in Commercial Township, Cumberland County, where they will also hold a roundtable discussion with school officials from the surrounding area.

The new school funding formula law, S-2, was signed into law on July 24.  The new law provides schools with funding based on the actual student enrollment which is achieved by eliminating growth caps and phasing out adjustment aid.
