NORTH WILDWOOD – With just under 13 percent turnout of 2,943 registered, North Wildwood voters approved two questions Oct. 2 in a special election that pertained to Margaret Mace School, a Pre-K-to-8 school at 1201 Atlantic Ave.
The first question was for slightly over $4 million to replace heating, air conditioning and ventilation, and roof restoration. The tally was 199 yes, 174 no votes, according to the Cape May County Clerk’s website, capemaycountyvotes.com
The second question was for $931,250 for renovations, fixtures, furnishings, and equipment, according to the ballot. That question received 197 yes, 173 no votes.
The interpretive statement on the ballot indicated that, if approved, the board of education would be authorized to undertake the capital projects for a total of $4,949,903. Of that sum, state debt aid will pay 40 percent or $1,979,961.
Slightly over 16 percent of the 377 votes cast, 62 used mail-in ballots.
