CREST HAVEN – The Cape May County Department of Emergency Management and the Cape May County Technical High School are creating a new partnership to inform and educate students who are interested in a career in emergency dispatching services. The experience will be part of the School’s Law Enforcement and Public Safety Program.
“This new partnership will provide students with an opportunity to learn about the value and importance dispatching services provide to their communities”, said Cape May County Department of Emergency Management Director Martin Pagliughi. “Students will learn first-hand the critical skills and thinking involved in dispatching services while providing them with an exciting career opportunity to pursue upon graduation”.
The new partnership was developed by Pagliughi and by Dan Loesch, a teacher for the law enforcement program at the school. Both entities will work together to educate students on the importance of following certain practices and procedures in dispatching with the ultimate goal of providing senior students with an opportunity to earn a 911 dispatching certificate upon graduation.
“This partnership is another great opportunity to meet the needs of the law enforcement community and offer expanded career choices for our students at the Technical School. I encourage those with an interest in public safety to consider pursuing this career path and earn a 911 dispatching certificate”, said Cape May County Commissioner Director Leonard Desiderio, liaison to Public Safety and Training.
“I am very appreciative of this partnership and the willingness of the Cape May County Department of Emergency Management to provide this training for our students”, Loesch said. “This program fulfills the mission of the school to provide high-level vocational training, so our students have options and choices in the professional world upon graduation”.
Jennifer Graham, who has nearly three decades of dispatching and training experience, has volunteered to provide guidance and training to Loesch to launch this program. Graham serves as an Evidence Clerk for the Middle Township Police Department.
