By Christine Cote

Based on numbers supplied by the State Police, between January and August 2004 there were 870 offenses, although not all led to arrests. For the same time period in 2005 there were 881.
Taylor said that last year through August, 118 of the cases reported involved dating relationships. Because of numbers like this, he said, CARA is considering programs focusing on dangers in dating relationships.
Looking at the types of charges that lad to arrests for domestic violence, Taylor said from January to June 2005, there were
• 139 arrests for assault.
• 35 arrests for harassment.
• Nine arrests for terroristic threats.
• Eight arrests for criminal trespass.
• Six arrests for criminal mischief.
He said he expects to have the numbers for the entire year within three to four weeks.
