PROVIDENCE, R.I. – A Cape May man charged in connection with a 2015 fatal boating collision off Westerly, R.I. has pleaded guilty, according to media reports.
Cooper Bacon, 79, a licensed captain, was piloting a 60-foot yacht from Newport, R.I. to a boat show in Stamford, Conn. Sept. 22, 2015 when it struck a 23-foot powerboat, causing the death of Walter S. Krupinski, 81, of Norfolk, Conn., the Providence Journal reported.
Bacon pleaded guilty Oct. 30 to seaman’s manslaughter in U.S. District Court in Providence, R.I. Sentencing is scheduled for Jan. 17.
