NORTH CAPE MAY – A New York woman was sentenced by Superior Court Judge Michael Donohue Oct. 27 to seven years in prison after she admitted to selling fentanyl to a pregnant North Cape May woman, The Press of Atlantic City reports.
Alycha Rodriguez, 23, of Brooklyn, N.Y., previously pleaded guilty to strict liability of drug induced death.
According to previous reports, Amanda Albee, 30, was found dead after overdosing Nov. 15, 2016. She was three months pregnant.
Albee left behind a 9-year-old daughter. Albee’s sister told The Press of Atlantic City that Rodriguez is also the mother of a young child.
An investigation determined Rodriguez, who was staying at a Rio Grande motel, sold suspected heroin to Albee. According to The Press of Atlantic City’s report, Rodriguez thought she was selling heroin, not pure fentanyl, which is more potent than heroin.
Rodriguez will have to serve at least 85 percent of her sentence, the report continued.
