STONE HARBOR — A North Wildwood woman was charged with impersonating an officer after allegedly distributing flyers regarding a potential shoplifting subject in local retail stores.
Police received information that on Aug. 11 a person was giving out information in Stone Harbor businesses on an alleged shoplifter. In at least one of the stores, the person claimed to be a Wildwood police detective.
Following an investigation, Detective Sgt. Schutta and Detective Schuck charged Joan C. Magee with impersonating a law enforcement officer.
Magee, 52, was allegedly distributing flyers she made claiming that a person, with whom she had an ongoing dispute, was going to shoplift in the stores.
Magee was arrested on Aug. 18 and released after posting bail that was set at $7,500 by Judge Peter Tourison.
