NORTH WILDWOOD – North Wildwood Police took a report regarding a theft of checks from a vehicle that was parked in a parking lot at Spruce and Maryland avenues Sunday, June 7. Detective Justin Melo developed information on the accused in this case and put out a description of her to local police departments in an attempt to identify.
On Monday, June 29, Officer Scott Krissinger of the Cape May Police Department saw a vehicle matching the description of the accused and her vehicle leaving the City of Cape May heading toward the Garden State Parkway. Officer Krissinger stopped the vehicle and contacted North Wildwood Police. Detectives Melo and Michael Griser responded and spoke to the driver of the vehicle, Jennifer Romano.
Romano, 27, residing in Woodbine, was arrested and charged with burglary and theft. Judge Louis J. Belasco, Jr. issued a warrant for these charges. Romano was released on her own recognizance.
The charges and allegations contained in the complaint are merely accusations and the defendant is considered innocent unless and until proven guilty.
