Woman Charged with Forgery, Fraud, Shoplifting

OCEAN CITY — On May 1, the Ocean City police received a report from a local business owner in reference to a possible ongoing theft occurring by an officer of the company.
The investigation revealed that over the course of several months dating back to August 2008, an employee of the company with access to all financial records had been issuing unauthorized checks and making unauthorized purchases on the company’s accounts.
The checks and credit card purchases were issued in the name of the employee and her family members.
According to the owner of the business none of the identified purchases and checks were authorized on the accounts. The total amount of the thefts is in excess of $75,000.
On June 8, the Accused, Stacey W. Canterbury, was arrested on a warrant issued by Judge Richard Russell in the amount of $25,000 full cash bail. She was charged with forgery, uttered forgery, fraudulent use of credit card, and shoplifting. The arrest was made by the Cinnaminson Police Department.
Cinnaminson Police are also investigating Canterbury for a similar incident in their jurisdiction. The local investigation was conducted by Ptl. Bill Lick and Det. Stephen Sullivan.
