By Press Release

RIO GRANDE – Middle Township Police Department received numerous 911 calls for an out of control driver in the Rio Plaza shopping Center March 18 at 1:24 p.m.
The vehicle driven by Jacquelyn Dunbar, 26, of West Wildwood, was driving through the parking lot in front of Peebles. In the car was a two-year-old child properly restrained in a baby seat. She lost control, hitting a concrete curb and then veered across the lane striking a support column. Dunbar then backed up and struck a parked vehicle in the lot, and then drove forward again striking the same support column. During the investigation it was determined that Dunbar was driving under the influence. Two empty heroin packets were found in the vehicle.

She was charged with driving while intoxicated, second degree child endangerment, possession of drug paraphernalia, reckless driving, driving while suspended, and uninsured driver. Dunbar was incarcerated in the Cape May County Correctional Center in lieu of $25,000 bail.
At the time of the crash, there were numerous shoppers and pedestrians in the area. Several videos of the aftermath have popped up on social media sites. If anyone has a video of the car in motion prior to the crash, please contact the Middle Township Police Department at 465-8700.
The charges and allegations contained in the complaint are merely accusations and the defendant is considered innocent unless and until proven guilty.
