WILDWOOD – Members of the City of Wildwood Police Department responded to 1,642 calls for service and arrested 224 adults and juveniles during the Memorial Day weekend.
According to Wildwood Chief of Police Robert Regalbuto, statistics for the period of 7 a.m. May 25 through 7 p.m. May 29 are as follows:
Total Calls for Service: 1,642
911 calls: 277
Custodial Arrests: 83
Non-custodial Arrests: 224
Adult Arrests: 191
Juvenile Arrests: 33
Motor Vehicle Accidents: 35
DWI: 4
Motor Vehicle Stops: 108
Medical Assists: 35
“Arrests were from aggressive enforcement for alcohol violations on the beach during Friday, Saturday and Sunday,” stated Regalbuto, “as well as heavy enforcement of disorderly persons on the Boardwalk and streets.”
According to the chief, members of the Wildwood Police Department will continue their aggressive stance throughout the summer season.
“Our focus on community policing is working,” stated Regalbuto. “Changes we have made in the department over the past years to make Wildwood crime-free are paying off. We will continue our strong stance on making Wildwood a safe community to visit and live and we will aggressively enforce laws to protect our community.”
