Wildwood Police Arrest Suspect With Handgun

WILDWOOD – Members of the Wildwood Police Department Uniform Patrol and Detective Divisions, responded to 434 West Montgomery Avenue Wildwood, Ship & Shore Bar, to investigate a report of a disturbance Jan. 28.
While responding to the incident, additional information was developed indicating that one of the individuals involved was armed with a handgun. Upon arrival of uniform police officers, witnesses provided the responding officers with a description of the individual armed with the handgun and his direction of travel.
Shortly thereafter, an individual matching the description provided by the witnesses was located and detained in the 4400 block of Park Boulevard located in Wildwood. While on scene, the individual was identified as Jose Ramos, 28, residing in Wildwood. During the course of the investigation Ramos was identified by witnesses as being responsible for pointing a revolver style handgun in the direction of one of the bar patrons, subsequent to a heated verbal argument.
After further investigation, Ramos was placed under arrest and charged with aggravated assault, a crime of the fourth degree, unlawful possession of a weapon, a crime of the fourth degree, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, a crime of the second degree, and certain persons not to possess weapons, a crime of the fourth degree.
Judge Dorothy Garrabrant of the Wildwood Municipal Court, set bail for Ramos at $130,000, full cash, no ten percent. Ramos was unable to post bail and was incarcerated at the Cape May County Correctional Center.
The charges and allegations contained in the complaint are merely accusations and the defendant is considered innocent unless and until proven guilty.
