WILDWOOD- Cape May County Prosecutor Robert L. Taylor and Wildwood Police Chief Steven Long announce the arrest of Jacob Grant, 29, of Wildwood.
On Oct. 3, the Wildwood Police were alerted to a juvenile male that was bleeding from the head in the 100 block of East Montgomery Avenue. Wildwood Police subsequently followed a blood trail that led them to a residence in the block. Officers approached a male, who was later identified as Grant, at the residence, at which time he produced a knife and fled into the bathroom. Grant barricaded himself inside the bathroom and the Cape May County Regional SWAT Team responded to the scene. After negotiating with Grant he eventually surrendered without incident.
The juvenile male was subsequently transported to Cape Regional Hospital where he was treated and released. Grant was arrested and charged with hindering the apprehension, a crime of the fourth degree. Grant was also found to have warrants for failure to appear on previous court matters.
Prosecutor Taylor advises that persons convicted of a fourth degree crime are subject to a term of imprisonment not to exceed 18 months.
This investigation being conducted by the Wildwood Police and the Major Crimes Unit of the Cape May County Prosecutor’s Office is ongoing.
Prosecutor Taylor and Chief Long would like to recognize the efforts of all agencies involved resulting in the safe apprehension of the defendant.
