Wildwood Man Faces Robbery, Burglary Charges

WILDWOOD – Members of the Wildwood Police Department Uniform Patrol Division responded to a store in the 200 block of East Rio Grande Avenue in connection to a disturbance in progress. Upon arrival of patrol officers, it was determined that the owners of the store were actively engaged in a physical confrontation with an individual who was burglarizing the store. This individual was eventually apprehended by police and identified as Miguel Herrera-Dardiz, 18, of Wildwood. During the contact with the store owners, Herrera-Dardiz attempted to use a 4-foot aluminum construction level as a weapon during the altercation.
During the developing investigation, Herrera-Dardiz was found to be in possession of proceeds of the burglary of the store. Additionally, during the follow-up investigation by Wildwood Police Department Detective Division, Herrera-Dardiz was identified as being responsible for a separate burglary and theft at a store located in the 4300 block of Pacific Avenue in Wildwood which occurred Aug. 6. 
Herrera-Dardiz was issued criminal complaints from the incident at the store on Rio Grande Avenue for the following criminal offenses: robbery, first degree, theft of movable property, third degree, possession of a weapon, fourth degree, and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, third degree. Judge Dorothy Garrabrant set bail at $150,000 cash/bond, no 10 percent.
Additionally, Herrera-Dardiz was issued criminal complaints from the incident at the store on Pacific Avenue for the following criminal offenses: burglary, third degree, and theft of movable property, third degree. Judge Dorothy Garrabrant set bail at $70,000 cash/bond, no 10 percent.
Herrera-Dardiz was unable to post bail and was incarcerated at the Cape May County Correctional Center.
The charges and allegations contained in the complaint are merely accusations and the defendant is considered innocent unless and until proven guilty.
