WILDWOOD – On Saturday, March 27 at approximately 6:00 p.m., officers from the Wildwood Police Department Uniform Patrol and Detective Wildwood Devisions responded to Max On The Beach.Com Rentals, 4205 Pacific Avenue for an audible alarm.
Upon arrival, it was ascertained that forceable entry had been made into the interior of the building. Upon entry into the premise, the perpetrator(s) attempted to removed a forty-two inch flat screen television. The perpetrators fled due to the activation of the interior audible alarm system.
As the follow-up investigation was in progress, police communications received a second telephone call in connection to another burglary in progress.
Consequently, officers were dispatched to 135 East Spencer Avenue. Shortly thereafter, information was disseminated by police communications that the burglary suspect was involved in a physical confrontation with the home owner.
Upon arrival, the suspect was being detained by one of the condominium association owners. The suspect was placed under arrest and transported to Wildwood Police headquarters.
During the on-scene investigation, it was determined that the suspect utilized a large rock to smash the pane of double glass to the main entrance door, leading to an interior hallway.
Once inside the interior of the complex, the individual kicked in an interior doorway leading to unit 100 of the condominium complex.
Unit number 100 sustained extensive damage to the door and door jamb. The condominium association owner, sustained minor injuries during the contact with the burglary suspect.
Once at police headquarters, the suspect was identified as Nelson Irizarry, a 23 year-old unemployed Hispanic male currently residing in the city of Wildwood.
Accordingly, Irizarry was charged with burglary (2-counts) robbery (1-count) possession of crack cocaine and possession of marijuana.
The honorable judge David Deweese set bail for Nelson Irizarry at $50,000 cash/bond, no ten percent.
Irizarry was unable to post bail and was lodged in the Cape May County Correctional facility.
