Wildwood Man Arrested For Beating Wife With Wine Bottle

WILDWOOD – At approximately 6:00 A.M. on May 24, an officer from the Wildwood Police Department Uniformed Patrol Division responded to Cape Regional Medical Center on a report of a female who had been assaulted in the City of Wildwood.
The victim, Karen Young, a forty-six year old female who resides in Wildwood, reported that she had been repeatedly struck with a wine bottle by her husband, Scott Young, a thirty-four year old male who also resides in Wildwood.
The victim received multiple stitches on her head and right leg as a result of injuries from this incident.
Further investigation into this matter by members of the Wildwood Police Department Uniformed Patrol Division and the Wildwood Police Department Detective Division revealed that the victim had also been strangled by Mr. Young to the point that she lost consciousness.
Mr. Young was arrested at his residence without incident by officers from the Wildwood Police Department.
Prior to the arrival of police officers to the scene Mr. Young attempted to clean up the blood from the crime scene.
Scott Young was charged with aggravated assault (a crime of the second degree), possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose (a crime of the fourth degree), and tampering with evidence (a crime of the fourth degree).
The Honorable Judge David DeWeese set bail on the listed charges at $50,000.00 cash or bond no ten percent with a condition of release being no contact with the victim.
Mr. Young could not post the required bail, and was lodged in the Cape May County Correctional Center.
