The following is based on information received from a law enforcement agency. The persons named are innocent unless proven otherwise in court.
WILDWOOD – At about 9 a.m. July 3, the Wildwood Police Department Uniform Patrol Division responded to the 4900 Block of Park Blvd., Wildwood, in connection to a report of a motor vehicle collision with a possible unconscious driver.
According to a release, shortly thereafter, officers encountered the driver / operator, Luis Perez-Barrios, 38, who resides in Wildwood.
During the investigation, it was determined that Perez-Barrios was under the influence of alcohol/narcotics while operating his vehicle.
As the inquiry continued, investigating officers seized five bundles of heroin (approximately 60 individual bags/folds) inside Perez-Barrios’ vehicle.
The narcotics were prepackaged for street-level sales/distribution and had an estimated street-level value of approximately $600.
Perez-Barrios was charged with the following criminal offenses: possession of heroin, possession of heroin with intent to distribute, possession of a prescription legend narcotic, and possession of marijuana.
Perez-Barrios was additionally issued motor vehicle summonses specific to the investigation for driving while under the influence of alcohol/drugs, driving with a suspended driver’s license, unlicensed driver, failure to observe a traffic signal, and possession of a controlled dangerous substance in a motor vehicle.
Perez-Barrios was processed and eventually released pending a court appearance following the Attorney General Guidelines in connection to the Criminal Bail Reform Act/Directive.
