MIDDLE TOWNSHIP POLICE RELEASE:
WHITESBORO — On July 12, 2009 at approximately 1:30 AM the Middle Township Police Department arrested Marquis Cheeks, age 24 from Whitesboro. Cheeks had entered a residence and sexually assaulted a 15 year old juvenile female. The victim called 911 after Cheeks departed the scene. Officers located Cheeks within minutes of the call in the area of the residence.
Marquis Cheeks was charged with Aggravated Sexual Assault and Burglary. Bail was set by Superior Court Judge Max Baker at $500,000. He was lodged in the Cape May County Correctional Facility in lieu of bail.
The case is under investigation by the Middle Township Police Major Crimes Unit and the Cape May County Prosecutors Office.
