Whitesboro Man Arrested for Handgun Possession

WILDWOOD- Cape May County Prosecutor Robert L. Taylor and Wildwood Police Chief Steven Long announce the arrest of Luis Garcia, 26, of the Whitesboro section of Middle Township, for Weapons Offenses and Eluding.
While conducting a field stop of Garcia in the area of the Wildwood Housing Authority, Garcia fled from police and was observed attempting to discard a semi-automatic handgun. Garcia subsequently was apprehended and the handgun was recovered.
Garcia was charged with possession of a firearm for an unlawful purpose, a crime of the second degree; being a certain person not to possess a weapon, a crime of the second degree; unlawful possession of a handgun, a crime of the third degree; hindering apprehension, a crime of the third degree; obstructing administration of law, a crime of the fourth degree and resisting arrest, a crime of the fourth degree.
Garcia was lodged in the Cape May County Correctional Center in lieu of $185,000 full cash bail set by Judge Garrabrant, JMC.
Prosecutor Taylor and Chief Long recognize the efforts of the agencies involved which resulted in the successful conclusion of this investigation.
