COURT HOUSE – Cape May County Prosecutor Jeffrey H. Sutherland and Chief of Detectives Paul Skill announce the arrest of Gonzalo Gonzalez, 27, of Villas, for heroin distribution and weapons charges.
According to a release, this arrest was the conclusion of a multi-month investigation targeting the narcotics distribution activities of Gonzalez throughout Cape May County.
This cooperative investigation was initiated by the Cape May County Prosecutor’s Office, Gangs, Guns and Narcotics Task Force, and was assisted by the Lower Township Police Detective Division and the Middle Township Police Street Crimes Unit.
On April 16, a Superior Court search warrant was executed on a storage unit in the 600 block of Shunpike Road, in Burleigh. As a result of that search, approximately 1,400 individual bags of heroin were seized. That amount of heroin has a potential street value of $14,000. Also seized as a result of the search warrant were drug manufacturing materials, an AR15-style rifle, and two fully loaded 30-round magazines.
Gonzalez was charged with maintaining a CDS manufacturing facility; possession of CDS (heroin); possession with the intention to distribute CDS (heroin); possession with the intent to distribute drug paraphernalia; possession with the intent to distribute within 500 feet of a public place; unlawful possession of a weapon; possession of a weapon for unlawful purpose; possession of a firearm during CDS distribution Offense; possession of an assault firearm; and possession of magazines.
Gonzalez was lodged at the Cape May Cape May County Correctional Facility pending court proceedings as per bail reform.
Sutherland stated, “I would like to thank our partners in this operation, the Lower Township Police Detective Division and the Middle Township Police Street Crimes Unit who worked with our Gangs, Guns and Narcotics Task Force to help rid the communities of Cape May County of these dangerous drugs and firearms that are part of the drug trade and arrest the people involved.”
